Welcome
CleanCarlsbad.com began during the summer of 2008 while I ran for
Carlsbad City Council. I'm in the process of sorting out the campaign
pages and updating the ongoing issue pages. For example, my #1 issue
remains Alga Norte Park and Pools. The shortage of public swim lessons
and available public pool time in Carlsbad is an ever-worsening emergency.
Our public skatepark is slated for destruction, in Tony Hawk's hometown.
Alga Norte addresses these needs and more.
In April 2009, the Carlsbad City Council voted to proceed only with grading
the Alga Norte site (rather than sending the whole project out for bids). This
was a big disappointment to the 250+ citizens who showed up in support of
the park. No one showed up to protest the park. A strong case was made by
City Council members Ann Kulchin and Keith Blackburn for the park and pools.
Mr. Blackburn even detailed reasons why now is the time due to construction
price cuts significant enough to cover operations and maintenance during the
initial years. Citizens spoke out on a wide array of sound reasons that the park
and pools are needed now. Thank you to everyone who showed up to speak,
to support all of us who spoke, and those who called and emailed support to me.
Stay tuned for more info on the upcoming Carlsbad city budget this summer.
As always, I encourage you to let your City Council know where you stand. You
can find all their contact information on this site.
Call, fax, snailmail, or email me anytime.
Thanks for your support,
